There are networks of mutually-reinforcing neurons in the brain. I use the word "network" mostly-metaphorically to refer to them.
Your brain has 100 billion neurons with 100 trillion connections. No point in paying for the upkeep of all those cells unless they’re being used for something. So we need to posit a *lot* of small networks with a lot of interconnections.
I am leaning on the Distributed Logjam metaphor for how the brain works.
